MARJORIE VICTORIA GIESE (nee ANNELL) March 25, 1931 - February 4, 2012 Marjorie Victoria Giese (nee Annell) of Winnipeg, MB, formerly of Morris, MB, passed away at the age of 80 at St. Boniface Hospital after complications from chronic illness. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ernest; children, Marlene Klassen (Harold), Rod Giese (Heather), and Daryl Giese (Janet); and four grandchildren, Ashley, Brett, Lauren, and Kyle. She was predeceased by her parents Conrad and Ida Annell; brothers Carl, Conrad Jr., Nils, and sister Elvina. Surviving family members are siblings Irene Quammen, Lillian (Buddy) Mohler, Janice (Ray) Dunn, Esther (Ken) Haskell, Ellen Foster (Henry Bieberdorf) and Marvin Annell (Vivian), and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Marjorie was born in Palermo, North Dakota, on March 25, 1931. The family moved to Canada in 1939, where they settled and farmed in Chatfield, MB. She attended school to grade eight and then went on to work at a farm near Morris, MB, where she met her husband of 62 years. Marjorie raised three children and was very active in her community by leading 4-H Club, coordinating Defensive Driving Courses, and selling Avon for many years. She had natural skills in hairdressing, sewing, and knitting. She was an active member of the Morris Lutheran Church of the Cross, leading choir, Sunday School, Luther League, confirmation, E.L.W., and many worship services. She was naturally talented in music and sang, played accordion and guitar regularly at nursing homes and family gatherings. She happily shared her love of music. Marjorie also had a great love for animals from an early age on the farm. She had a special love for horses, cats, and dogs, especially Bear. The family thanks Chaplain Ian and the fifth floor staff for their care and compassion in her final days. According to Marjorie's wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will occur at a later date. A celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m., at Sherwood Park Lutheran Church, 7 Tudor Crescent, Winnipeg, MB R2K 2A5.
