Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEUGENE SAFONOVS February 27, 1928 - February 4, 2012 Peacefully, with his long time companion, Josie, by his side, Eugene passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the age of 83 years. Eugene came to Canada in 1956, with his wife and son, Gilles. He settled in Winnipeg and had six more children. Eugene worked at the Misericordia Hospital for many years as well as being self-employed. There wasn't anything that he couldn't do. He helped many people with their homes. He had a hard time saying no to anyone. Eugene will be lovingly and sadly missed by his life-long companion, Josie; his children, Gilles (Lena), Paul, Nick, Noel, Frank, Louise and special daughter Jackie. He will also be missed by his grandchildren and nieces and nephews in the USA. A special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Health Science Centre and to Father Jean for their compassion and care. A Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Thursday, February 9, at 10:00 a.m. 586-8044

To a man who lived a full life. He and his older brother Nick who passed away at 83 in 2007 overcame much hardship in their early years of life. They left Russia to seek freedom. Both marrying and having loving families. The smiles that this man and his brother had were memorable. I can see them still. Eugene stayed on in Canada. I did not get to see him very much but what I remember is that he had a heart of gold. My father moved to the US to pursue employment. Our condolences to the Safonovs Family.
