DONALD ELGIN ARMSTRONG Peacefully Dad passed away on Thursday, February 09, 2012. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Terry (Jeff), Debbie (Ray), Rob (Doreen), Kevin, Karen (Ed) and Don (Michelle); grandchildren, Ryan (Jen), David (April), Leah (Kyle), Krista (Justin), Kristin (Tye), Melissa, Kerri (Dave), Erin, and Chantel; nine great-grandchildren; his brother Jack; and sisters Pat, Marion and Evelyn; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernadette; his parents, Robert and Elizabeth; brothers Howard and Jimmy; sisters Dorothy, Betty, Maude and Hester. Don was born on July 7, 1930, and raised in Winnipeg. On February 14, 1953, he married Bernadette and they spent 51 years together raising their family. Don enjoyed working for Manitoba Telephone System for over 35 years. He was instrumental in the early development of Gateway Community Club and a member of the Kiwanis Club. His keen listening skills, calm voice and assuring smile brought encouragement and support to many people. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and was actively involved in their lives. Don was strong and courageous in his health challenges and was able to remain in his home. A special thanks to Dr. Penner and Dr. Kroeker as well as homecare services. A Memorial Service will be held at the Klassen Funeral Home at 1897 Henderson Hwy. on February 15, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.   • Sorry we can't be there. Our heart goes out to all of you. I will never forget my favorite Uncle and his laugh. He has created many memories for all of us. I remember Uncle Donnie's old blue truck and the old tractor on the farm and Stella (the one who swallowed the soother) and the trampoline. Having a bath outside in the old galvanized tub.
