Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN HALISCHUK (nee ANDRUSHUK) March 28, 1920 February 10, 2012 With sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of their mother on February 10, 2012 at Seven Oaks Hospital. She is survived by her children, Bernice Beaulieu, Alex (Carol) Halischuk, Carol (Curt) Bird, Robert (Kimberly) Halischuk, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, two great- great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John (2003), son Bill (2005), son-in-law Roland (1986) and her sisters Mary, Ann, Rose and brothers John, Bill, Fred, Pete and Paul. Helen was born to Phillip and Pear Andrushuk in Arnes, MB then moved to Layland, MB, for her school years. It was there that she met John. They married in 1940 and made their home in Rathwell, where they farmed and started their family. Through her ventures she ran a Red White Store in Belmont, MB with John, later they farmed in Haywood, MB and then to Winnipeg where Helen and John ran the family waterproofing business in West St. Paul, MB. Her joys in life were cooking for her family and friends, years of travelling and being a snowbird in the winter months, fishing, gardening, knitting and just enjoyed being with her family. Her final years she spent in the Maples Personal Care Home, where she enjoyed arts and crafts and bingo. Special thanks to the staff at Maples for their compassionate care and to the nurses and doctors at Seven Oaks Hospital. Memorial Service will take place on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. My grandma was one of the most beautiful people on this planet. I only really knew her for the first 12 years of my life, then we moved to B.C., Some of the happiest times of my life were living on the same street as my grandparents.
