One Day at a Time The day we met, there was no regret The smile on your face, made my heart race We bought our house together, it was to be forever I was your left hand, you were my right I was your day, you were my night Your glass was always full, mine was always empty I was to die first, and you were to follow And then came that day, when our plans went away The cancer had bit you, how that must have hit you One day at a time is what you said; I could not get those words out of my head Two rounds of chemo and radiation also, the cancer was persistent and had to follow The doctor told us to get our affairs in order, there is no drug left from the pharmacy to order One day at a time you faded away, day by day the pain was to stay One day at a time you faded away, until that day you went away with all my love sweetheart I miss you - Posted by: Len Vernie (Husband) on: Feb 18, 2012
