Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD JACK PRATT April 4, 1939 - February 16, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward (Ted) on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at the age of 72. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marie; daughters, Carolyn (Robin), Jacquelyn (Christopher); and son Terry; grandchildren Nicole, Brad, Rhys and Dawn; his sisters Gail Mills and Susan Goyer; in-laws Lucy McBain, Doreen (Lawrence) Huska, Bill (Rose) Pash, and Patricia Pash. He was also a special uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was born 1939, in Winnipeg to Jack and Katherine Pratt, at age ten the family moved to the St. James Assiniboia area where Ted resided for the rest of his life raising his children and watching the grandchildren grow. He graduated from St. James Collegiate and went on to commercial college. Ted was employed by his father at Pratt Hardware Ltd. situated at the corner of Portage and Arlington. Ted went on to get his Certified Management Accounting Degree. When the store closed in 1972, Ted went to work for Revenue Canada advancing from Accessing Officer to Business Audit. Besides his family, Ted's great loves were the cottage at West Hawk Lake and his model trains, and the daily market. One would occupy his summer months and one his winter time, but always the market. Ted had served for forty years as a bingo coordinator for the Blessed John XXIII and was a member of Council #4557 of Knights of Columbus. He loved to travel and was able to experience most of Canada and the U.S. plus Europe, New Zealand and Australia and a Caribbean cruise. Funeral Mass honouring Ted will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed John XXIII (Christian Centre). Cremation has already taken place and a private family gathering for interment will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit and Home Care for their care and compassion during this difficult time, and to family and friends who visited or called to send him love, hugs and prayers. Flowers are gratefully declined. Ted is a close friend who will be missed. Our friendship spans many many years, travel, summer activities, card games, celebrations, laughs, happiness and sorrow were only some of the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly experiences we shared.
