LENARD HENRY LOFTO Unexpectedly, on Thursday, February 16, 2012, Lenard Henry Lofto, beloved husband, caring father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 76 years, following a brief battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Fernande (nee Painchaud), with whom he shared life's journey for the past 51 years; his children Mona (Gordon Reid), Colleen (Laura Solberg), Garrett (Carol); grandchildren Toni, Caitlin, Meagan, and Kirsten Reid and Logan, Ryland, and Jeran Lofto; siblings Marguerite (Alan) Arnal, Naomi (Claude) Bondy, Gerry (Gladys) Lofto, Elaine (Leander) Ammeter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Marcel Painchaud, Noella (Larry) Rose, Diane (Orval) Bernardin, and Pat Painchaud, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Lenard was predeceased by sister-in-law Judy Lofto; brothers-in-law Gabriel Arnal, Raymond Bondy and Leo Painchaud, and nephew Roger Painchaud. Dad was born on June 23, 1935 in Fannystelle, MB to Melvin and Selma Lofto. He grew up on the family farm near Fannystelle where he spent his entire life. Dad loved having mom by his side and took great joy in spending time at home with family, neighbours and friends. Grandpa cherished his grandchildren's visits, working on their special projects together. Dad loved camping, fishing, curling and baseball, and was passionate about the return of the Winnipeg Jets. He enjoyed motor-home rides, taking trips to visit family and friends, and was especially fond of watching his kids and grandkids participate in their various activities. Community involvement was very important to Dad where he served on the Fannystelle Athletic Board for twenty five years, was Councillor in the Municipality of Cartier for eighteen years, and acted as Trustee of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Manitoba, for several terms. Dad's caring ways touched many lives. Dad, we will cherish all the glorious memories you made for us with your unconditional love and gentle heart. We love you and will hold you in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba as well as our family, neighbours, and friends for all of their support. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 22 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9; the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6, or to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Box 118, Starbuck, MB, R0G 2P0.
