RANDY HOROSHOK With great sadness, we announce that Randy William Patrick Horoshok, 49, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, February 20, 2012 with family and friends by his side. Randy will be forever remembered by his partner and soulmate, Margaret; his mother and father, Pat and Jim of Winnipeg; his sisters, Kelly (Wayne) of Calgary and Jody (Jarad) of Minneapolis; Aunty Kathy (Bruce); Aunty Patsy (Ron); seven nieces and nephews and many relatives. He will be sadly missed by his close friends Mladen and Carey and many, many others. Randy was predeceased by his brother Jim and his close friend Allan. Randy enjoyed his childhood in the North End and his family later moved to St. James. He loved hockey and played for the North Winnipeg Satelites and the St. James Canadians, continuing to play hockey with his friends throughout his teen years. Randy was extremely creative and artistic. One of his many passions in life was music and he felt that it was the greatest force in the world for bringing people together. Randy was a vital part of the vibrant Winnipeg punk rock scene. He taught himself to play bass and played in several bands including Direct Action, Bitter Piece and Something Evil. This involvement in music allowed him the opportunity to record and tour. He later taught himself to play guitar and continued writing music and lyrics. Randy enjoyed physical outdoor work and at one time owned and operated his own company, Bushart Landscaping and Maintenance. His other work included power engineer, boiler room operator and school board maintenance. He also enjoyed demolition work, and his time spent at CSI Caulking. Randy was known to be very generous with his time and would always lend a hand wherever it was needed. Randy was a brilliant and wise conversationalist and had a sharp sense of humour. He had a great presence about him and was always surrounded by friends. They found his home to be a gathering place and a safe haven. Someone once told Randy that life is not a party and he proved that to be wrong. He lived large and followed his own path right to the end. Even though Randy left us too soon, he had a profound effect on everyone that he touched while he was here. As was once said about Bob Marley, the world needed Randy more than he needed it. Be safe Randy, we love you. On Saturday, February 25, 2012 a Celebration of Randy's life will be held in the reception room at Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society or Quagga Stray Cat Rescue.

Never was there a being made of the perfect mix 50 o/0 mom 50 o/0 dad. Aunty pay & uncle Jim. Randy was the most exceptional non judgemental intellectual person I've ever known. You 2 are the kind of parents Disney makes fictional movies about. You brought 4 beautiful children into the world and gave them storybook lives. Really you did. I was jealous!!! I have always thought all 4 were beautiful. But I do think Randy was exceptionally special. So blessed my parents met you and I had the opportunity to know you and Randy and now Margaret. MISS YOU 💜💚💜💚 - Posted by: Rachel (Childhood friend) on: May 25, 2013

Life of the party. That's how I'll remember you. Playing the Bitter Piece recordings I still have right now. So much energy. Although it has been awhile you are a strong part of my memories of my wasted but cherished youth. Thanks for the part you played, the lessons you taught me, the laughs we shared, the stories we told, music we loved. RIP my friend - Posted by: Leah Moffatt (friend) on: Feb 26, 2012

Moments in a life ..... At one time Randy and I displayed furniture on the auction block at Hovvman Galleries in a part of downtown Winnipeg which no longer exists. We were each others first roomate when we rented an apartment on Evanson street. I Knew Randy in Junior high but it wasn't until highschool that we started hanging out by way of the bond of Punk Rock. Those were exciting times heading down to ROW to buy records and look for posters of up coming shows. Going to the native club was very special place for Randy, we met some of our first adult friends there, bonds that lasted. I remember us only being able to look at the House of Beep from across the road because we were still outsiders but within a couple of years that all changed. With the explosion of underground Punk rock came the touring bands. These were good times for Randy and many of us and of course this was when Randy started to pursue his musical ambitions. I remember eating chicken "ties" at his wonderful bobba's place on Polson, making hundreds of Perogies at a time on Gertrude street, a recipe and method of production I loosely still use today. Those young adult years were happy times for Randy, no doubt about it. Cheers old pal - Posted by: Rob Lang (Childhood- adult friend) on: Feb 25, 2012

I knew Randy when he was growing up & he was always a happy & fun-loving kid. I saw him a few times when he became an adult & most recently at his parents' anniversary party where he was very friendly & appeared to be very happy. My heart goes out to Jim & Pat, Kelly & Jody. He is now reunited with his brother Butch & I truly believe they are in a better place & happier than before. - Posted by: Jeanette(Debby)Horoshok (Divorced aunt) on: Feb 25, 2012

People spend their whole lives looking for that one friend that helps us define who we really are... That friend that will compliment and not complicate our lives... That friend that will show unconditional love and never judge us for being human... That friend who always gives more than they're willing to receive... If we're lucky enough to come accross just one, we truely are blessed. Randy Horoshok had a profound effect on my life, as he had on so many others. Anybody who had ever met Randy, has never forgotten him. Even if it was only for 5 minutes, Randy left his mark and an impression that you would never forget. From his candid sense of humor, to his compassion and love for his family and friends, Randy is a friend that I will never forget... A friend who I keep deep in my heart... A friend who truly is a blessing! "We may have lost a loved one, but we have gained an angel" I love you my dear friend!!!
