Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENDRICK (HENRY) HERMAN JACOBS 1924-2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Jacobs on Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Concordia Hospital. He leaves to mourn his two sons Henk (Rita), Peter (Donna), grandchildren Sarah, Michael, Katryna, Justin, Aleesha, his sister-in-law in the Netherlands Rie Jacobs, along with various nieces and nephews in the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his wife Peiternella (Nel) Jacobs, his parents Hendrick and Wobbegina Jacobs, his sisters Jacoba, Aleida and his brother Gerrit Jan. Dad was born in Amsterdam the Netherlands in 1924. He studied and became an Accountant working in a variety of offices in Amsterdam. He married Nel Koning in 1949 in Amsterdam and immigrated with mom and the two boys in 1958 to Winnipeg. Upon arriving in Winnipeg they became close friends with the Luit and Tigchelaar families who were now their family in Canada, among many other Dutch friends who maintained close friendships over the years. In 1958 he worked for Teal Air at the Winnipeg International Airport and commenced working at the University of Manitoba in 1959. While at the University he worked in the Controller's office, then transferred to Academic Administration Facility of Graduate Studies and continued to work in Research Administration in the office of the Vice President of Research where he retired in 1987. A celebration of his life will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 200 Dalhousie Drive on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be Justin Jacobs, Clarence Cherewyk, Gord Fleming, Scott Fleming, John Mestery and Brian Walker. Honorary Pallbearers are Donald Prymak and Dave Olsen. Mr. Jacobs (Henry) and his wife Mrs. Jacobs (Nellie) were two wonderful and caring Christian people. We held them both near and dear to our hearts. My wife and I will miss them both and are mourning their passing.
