ALFRED REMPEL Alfred Rempel passed away peacefully on February 23, 2012 at the Charleswood Care Centre. He is survived by son Robert and his wife Bonnie of Kitchener ON, daughter Barbara and her husband Ronald Westfall of Morden MB, and granddaughters Kora and husband Wes Klassen (great-grandchildren Mikah and Adi) of Kitchener, and Kym of Burwash Landing Yukon. He is also survived by two sisters, Elfrieda Duerksen and Dorothy and husband Helmut Huebert of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his wife, Elvira, his parents Peter and Katherine Rempel and one brother, Rudy. Alfred was born on July 30, 1928 in the R. M. of Hanover. He moved to Winnipeg as a young man, marrying Elvira Bergen in 1953. They enjoyed 51 years of married life. Alfred spent 18 years working for the T. Eaton Co. beginning in the warehouse and ending in the data processing department. After completing his CMA designation he taught computer programming at Red River College for 25 years. Alfred enjoyed running and was a member of the Re-Fit Centre for many years. He was also an active member of Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church for more than 60 years. Alfred will be remembered as a kind, cheerful father, grandfather, brother and friend who loved to listen as much as speak, to help whenever needed, and to provide loving support to those fortunate to know him. A memorial service for Alfred Rempel will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue. If friends so desire, donations can be made to Christian Chaplaincy (Red River College). The family would like to thank the staff at Harmony Court and Charleswood Care Centre for meeting Alfred's needs with compassion and care during the last 8 months.

ALFRED REMPEL On Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Charleswood Care Centre, Alfred Rempel, husband of the late Elvira Rempel, passed away at the age of 83. Due to family considerations the Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Portage Avenue Church. A longer obituary will follow in the Saturday, March 10 edition.
