Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTENA (CHRISSIE) LEAH ELAM November 17, 1921 - February 24, 2012 With her family at her side, Christena (Chrissie) Leah Elam passed away peacefully at her home. Christena was born in the small village of Elva, Manitoba, just outside Melita. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Charolett Russell; her loving husband, Fred Elam; and her sisters, Helen Meadows and Jean Sinkinson. Christena is survived by her children, Bert (Debbie) and Bette; her grandchildren, Joseph, Danial, Thea, Sarah and Michael; as well as her great-grandchildren. Mom was the center of her family and will be sorely missed by all. She loved her time in family events, and Christmas was by far her favorite time, as all her family gathered around her. In her retirement years she enjoyed playing cards with her friends and going to bingo with the seniors in the neighbourhood. The family wish to thank the Palliative Care nurses and the Home Care staff for their kindness and compassion shown to our mom. At Mom's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Society or the Cancer Society. I have just returned to work after mat leave and I have missed her so I went searching only to find her here. She was such a lovely person. She would come into my place of work and it was joy each time I saw her. She always smelled like Strawberries ('cause of her gum)! I knew one of her weaknesses were donuts!!
