Both Victor and Anne loved boating and fishing at their little piece of heaven , their log cabin near Pointe Du Bois. Victor was a member of the Army, Navy, and Air Force veterans of Canada, Winnipeg Game and Fish Association, and of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church until its closing in 2000. A reception will follow the service at the same location. Victor has been cremated. Interment at the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery will take place at a later date with immediate family attending. Victor's family would like to thank Dr. N. Kahn, staff of the third floor of Concordia Hospital, all staff of the emergency department and ICU for their arduous, professional, and over the top care given to Dad. In lieu of flowers, Victor and his family would ask that you remember him in your own special way, commit to an act of kindness every day, hold your family and friends dear, tell them that you love them, and give flowers to someone, so that they may enjoy them today. Weep not for me but courage take. Love one another for my sake, for those you love don't go away, they walk inside you every day. Rest in peace dear Son, Husband, and Father. One of my best role models - Posted by: Kyllan Ellis (Grandson) on: Dec 23, 2014

I met the Lion family shortly after meeting John Lion at Miles Macdonnel Collegiate some 46 years ago and some. I, my wife Patricia, my mother Del, and my daughter Danielle, extend our deepest condolences to the Lion family. I was always made welcome in the Lion household. I shared in meals. I went on fishing trips. I learned from the family. I knew the grandparents. I shared in the losses and I celebrated in the good times. And now we wish God speed to Victor wherever his next voyage will lead him. - Posted by: Norm Norris (Close family friend) on: Mar 04, 2012

I found Mr. Lion to be a bit of a reserved personality, but he had a quick wit and was a very generous individual. He always liked to have family and friends in his home and at his cottage. I had the privilege to be welcome at both. Fair winds and following seas, Victor. - Posted by: Dave Hays (Family friend) on: Mar 03, 2012
