Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD THOMAS DIXON 1952 - 2012 It is with deep sadness that we share with you the passing of Ron Dixon on February 27, 2012. We lost a loving partner, son, grandfather and friend. Ron was born in Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Roy and Rick, and closest friend Gordie Schulkins. He is survived by his partner of 28 years, Jessie Jones, his mother Merle Dixon (Don Erickson), granddaughter Jennifer, and his many extended nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn his close friends Al Crane of Winnipeg and Earl Walsh of Ottawa. In September 2008, Ron and Jessie moved to Gull Lake where they retired in 2010. Ron worked for CP Rail for 27 years. Ron's love of his Harley Davidson was well known by all who knew him. When he wasn't riding his Harley, he was wearing one of his collection of Harley Davidson t-shirts. Ron was a kind and gentle person and you could often find him lending a helping hand to family, friends, neighbours or at charity functions. I SHALL NOT PASS THIS WAY AGAIN Through this toilsome world, alas! Once and only once I pass; If a good deed I may do To a suffering fellow man, Let me do it while I can. No delay, for it is plain I shall not pass this way again. Donations may be made in Ron's memory to the Ron Dixon Technical Scholarship Fund Epilepsy and Seizure Association of Manitoba. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 3 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing half hour prior to the service, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Interment and reception will follow. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

Though I did not know "dixie" personally, I know people whom he has touched in life. From what I have heard, and the stories of "dixie" I was told, he was a truly great spirit on this rock we're all riding on. I'm sure there's a place for Ron, and we will all be blessed to meet him soon. RIP Dixie!! - Posted by: Jay (none) on: Oct 22, 2012

I met Ron (Dixie) back in 1998. He used to come into the Robin's on the late night shift. It was my first job and he was so upset that I was alone for part of my shit so him and Bunny sat with me till morning. We became good friends. He was the kindest man I have ever met. He would offer you the shirt off his back. He was so happy that he was retired and doing what him and his wife always wanted to do. I am going to miss him so much. The world will not be the same without him here! - Posted by: Naomi Johnson (Friend) on: Mar 11, 2012

We will visit you both when we return to Manitoba this summer. God bless you. Love Alan & Joanne. - Posted by: Alan and Joanne Sutherland (Cousin) on: Mar 03, 2012

We have known Dick since the late 60's, we hung out together doing things we enjoyed with good friends. Dick was the best man at my wedding in 73. Time and space took us apart but memories are still there from Wpg to Van and back. Bodies leave but the person lives on in those that remember. I met Ron Dixon (dixie) while in class to become a trainman/conductor for cpr. I started my career with cp in Windsor, ontario as a clerk and transfered to Winnipeg into the running trades in 1983. I was considered a marked man due to the fact that my dad was here as a asst. superintendent. I did not know anybody here in Winnipeg being a newbee. This did not fizz dixie and we became close friends. We hung around together a lot and the one thing that surprised me was that dixie was in his late 20's and still did not have a drivers licence. I convinced him to go and get his licence but before he did this, he bought a dodge ram, the green machine, and started driving this truck before he actually got his licence whithout getting caught. That was dixie. He then bought a boat. I lived in St. Boniface by Whittier park. He would phone me up and we would decide to go boating on the red. He would launch his boat at main street and dock it at the docks at Whittier Park. This was back when cell phones weren't around but he never needed one beacause I always knew when he was coming down my back alley because I had two dogs and there was approx. 8 other dogs in my neighbourhood. Dixie would start barking like a dog and get all the dogs barking. HERE comes dixie. At times some of my neighbours would complain to me and I would say, here's dixie, you talk to him. End of story with that. We would cruise up and down the red and the assiboine rivers, stopping for refreshments at the old teasers, westminister and skinners. We made a full day of it. This is just one of the fond, memerable, privilegable memories that I had while knowing a caring, considerated and unselfish person known as Ron Dixie (DIXIE). - Posted by: Stephen & Gail Denning (friends and co-worker) on: Mar 01, 2012

Well Dix, we had some great times at the Lake, whether in the driveway, having a fire, or sitting on the deck trying to kill off some of Jo's booze. Or our long quad ride down the old Lac du Bonnet sub then off to Beausejour to get more gas. Always remembered never forgot. Jo & Trev - Posted by: Trevor & Jo Williams (Friends) on: Mar 01, 2012
