ERNEST ALBERT CORDER It is with sadness that the family of Ernie announces his peaceful passing on March 1, 2012, age 89, at the Deer Lodge Centre. Ernie was predeceased by his parents Edith and Ernest, and sister Nancy. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Grace, children, Rae (Myrna), Brian (Jean), Judy (Dave) and Doug (Cathy). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Ryan, Mark, Erika (Dan), Candice (James), Brant (Becky), Jennifer, Cassie (Jason) and 13 great-grandchildren. Ernie also leaves his two sisters, Rose in Winnipeg, Kay in Silver Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie was raised and attended school in St. James. On April 1, 1942 he joined the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve and was overseas until he returned home on October 16, 1945. He married the love of his life, Grace Rivers on June 15, 1946 and they resided in St. James, raising their four children. Ernie was employed by the Federal Government at Deer Lodge Hospital as Regional Superintendent Prosthetic Services retiring in 1985. In later years Ernie and Grace spent many enjoyable winter months in Plant City, Florida. Mom and Dad were very active in the square dance community and made many lifelong friends during this time. Dad enjoyed golfing, bridge, wood carving and especially spending time with his family. He was a very devoted family man, a great dad and papa who will be missed. A memorial service celebrating Ernie's life will take place on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Boulevard, Winnipeg. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the care and comfort provided to Ernie by all the staff on Tower 6 at Deer Lodge.
