Mr. Nemish was principal when I moved to the city and attended Strathcona from 1967-1971. I often speak of him and his ability to remember so many students by name. How he would always greet students at the side door in the morning and acknowledge them by name. This made "me" feel special as a student and individual. He always had time to listen, talk and pat a student on the back for a job well done. All students respected and like him, he was a "fair" man. I do not recall a time when anyone was ever afraid to go down to his office to see him. I know that many students saw him as a "father figure" especially those who came from single parent homes. As I am now a Co-director of an Adult Training Centre, I now stand at the front of the education centre and say good morning to all the Adult learners, most by first name.
