Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOFIE DESJARLAIS Peacefully on March 4, 2012, at the Lundar Personal Care Home our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 97. Sofie is survived by her children Louise (Bill) of Beamsville, ON, William of Winnipeg, MB, Marvin (Ethel) of Lundar, MB, Jean (Bill) of Winnipeg, MB and Bruce (Iris) of Winnipeg; sisters Mary and Anne; sister-in-law Therese; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Dan Desjarlais; sisters Helen, Lena and Pauline; daughter Helene, and grandson David. Sofie was born on August 4, 1914. Her father passed away when she was eight years old and at the age of 18 she came to care for a family at Deerhorn, MB where she met and married Dan Desjarlais. They farmed in Eriksdale then owned Dan's Cafe in Lundar for four years. Life then took them to Winnipeg where Sofie worked at the Health Sciences Centre as a dietician, catering for 25 years. In 1979 Sofie retired to Lundar where she lived doing what she loved; gardening, baking, cooking, playing bingo and watching her grandchildren play hockey. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Lundar Legion Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow at a later date in the Otto Churchyard Cemetery.
