Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • As we sit here in our rented condo at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina overlooking the ocean we are remembering our friendship with Phyllis in the years of her association with St. stephen's Broadway Church. Upon meeting her there was an immediate bond because of our Scottish heritage and love for everything Scottish. It was so refreshing to met someone from just up the road, so to speak, from my little Largs. I loved her great sense of humor and particularly remember her lovely laugh and we had many of them as we reminisced about our beautiful Scotland. I admired the way she ,in her middle age, made a good and interesting life for herself in her adopted country and also the tremendously strong love and devotion that Doris and she shared for each other. I am sad that there were many years when our paths did not cross again but I thought of Phyllis often . Why did I not pick up the phone and call her but unfortunately that is what seems to happen as everyone goes about their busy lives and involvements with family, etc. We are here until the beginning of April and when we get back to Winnipeg, I will call you, Doris. We certainly would have been joining you and Jim on the 14th if we had been at home and will be thinking of you that day as you spend time with friends reminiscing about the special person Phyllis was..
