STANLEY (STAN) JAMES ANDRUSKI Stanley Stan James Andruski, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2012 at the age of 79 years in Brandon Regional Health Centre. Stan was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on June 13, 1932, second eldest son of four children. After working and living in Saskatchewan for two years, Stan moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1961 where he met his future wife Gilberte (Bouchard). In May of 1963, their marriage began and lasted almost 49 wonderful years. They were blessed with three children, Jamie, Jacquie and Cher, who have brought much love and joy to them throughout the years. Stan received his Manitoba Land Surveyor Commission in 1970 and after 32 years of committed service, he retired in 2002. Stan loved nature and the outdoors. He was an enthusiastic fisherman and hunter and was a member of the Manitoba Wildlife Association for many years. Stan was also a proud member of the Manitoba Agricultural Museum. Along with hunting and fishing, Stan enjoyed trapping, fiddling, old time music, camping, surveying, farming, collecting antiques and going to garage sales. Stan could always find a bargain or a good deal. He could and would bargain with the best of them. Honest, hardworking, dependable, loyal and friendly, Stan blessed his family and friends with his unconditional love. His kind heart and loving smile will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Stan will also be deeply missed by his loving wife Gilberte, his children Jamie (Tammy), Jacquie (Mike), Cher (Tom), his grandchildren Braydon, Bryan, Tanner, Rachael, Halen, Sabrina and Rainey, his sisters Anne Curtis and Stella (Ed) Torrez, his sisters-in-law Shirley (Gordon) Andruski, Claire Cadieux, Gisele (Ben) Comeault, Carmelle Daneault, Muriel (Nick) Schrader, and all of his extended family. Stan was predeceased by his parents Dmytro and Maria Andruski, brother Joseph Andruski, father and mother-in-law Megilde and Lea Bouchard, brothers-in-law Ben Torrez, Bill Curtis, Mousse Dionne, Aime Cadieux, Jos Daneault, Richard Butch Bouchard, sisters-in-law Leda Bouchard, Rollie Dionne, Uncle Dan (Maggie) Smyzak, special niece Louise Boutet and special nephew Gerald Dionne. Prayers were held at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home on Thursday, March 8, 2012. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Friday, March 9, 2012 with Fr. James Ahaneku as Celebrant. Interment has taken place at Brandon Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Groves and the Brandon Clinic staff, the nurses and staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre and the Assiniboine Centre for the care and compassion they gave to Stan, the entire Brockie Donovan staff for all their guidance and support, the organist, choir, readers, pallbearers and the CWL members who prepared all the food and refreshments following the funeral.
