Born: May 26, 1917
Date of Passing: Mar 06, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL AGNES SCULTHORP (nee WILSON) May 26, 1917 - March 6, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce that at the age of 94, our beloved Mum and Nana passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 6, 2012 at the Victoria General Hospital. The ultimate matriarch, Hazel leaves behind two children, Gail (Brian) Heywood and Jim (Colleen) Sculthorp, as well as seven grand-children, Karen (Brent), Brenda (John), Rob, Chris (Courtnee), Stacey (Mike), Kirsten (Bill) and Breanne and their spouses. She will also be lovingly remembered by 12 great-grand-children, one great-great-grandson, brother-in-law Bob Major and several nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband Fred, as well as all five of her brothers and sisters. Hazel was born in 1917 to Ruby and Charles Wilson in Portage La Prairie, MB. In October of 1941, Hazel married the boy-next-door, Frederick Sculthorp and they built a life together in St. James with their two children. The Sculthorps loved spending time at their cottage at Nutimik Lake; few things made our Nana happier than sitting out on the deck enjoying the morning sunshine. When a heart attack took Fred's life in 1971, Hazel had to get her first job at the Deer Lodge Hospital at the age of 55. Ever the strong and independent woman, she supported herself right up until her death. She was very active and social and took great pleasure in travelling, baking, playing cards, games, bowling and curling. She also took great pride from being a Mum, a Nana, a Grand-Nan and most recently a Great-Grand-Nan. The world has truly lost one of its great souls in Nana. She was a constant figure of love and laughter at the very top of our family tree and she will be dearly missed. There was nothing more important to her than family and very few things made her happier than when everyone was together. Although we are heartbroken by her passing, we feel incredibly fortunate to have been touched by such a beautiful soul. She lived 94 remarkable years and was the ultimate role-model of strength, kindness and family values. She will forever be in our hearts. A private memorial service with Reverend Sharman will be held for the family at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, please kindly send a donation on Hazel's behalf to a charity of your choice. Just as you were, you will always stay, loved and remembered every day. Your presence we'll miss, your memory we'll treasure, loving you always, forgetting you never. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

Your Mother was a wonderful Lady! We loved having her out to our Honoured Ladies' functions when she was able to attend. I did love our phone conversations in recent years. She was sure proud of her family! So sorry to hear of her passing! Vera Malczewski on behave of the St. James Masonic Lodge #121 - Posted by: St.James Masonic Lodge #121 () on: Mar 21, 2012

I have so many happy memories of your mum - her laughter, her kindness, the pleasure she took in her family - not to mention her wonderful blueberry pies! What a lovely woman she was. - Posted by: Pat Woolner Harman (old friend) on: Mar 12, 2012
