Date of Passing: Mar 10, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLINDA MARY RYBUCK (WARWARUK) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Linda at home on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the age of 71 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Peter, of 44 years; children Derek (Margaret), Laura Opitz (Grant), Vernon, Sheldon (Darlene); grandchildren, Carson and Mikayla Rybuck, Regina, Danton and Denim Opitz; brothers Roman (Marguerite) of Edmonton, AB and Julian (Jean) of Erickson; sisters-in-law Dorothy Warwaruk, Marion Warwaruk, Eleanor Karalash; brother-in-law Maurice (Lucille) Rybuck; mother-in-law Mary Rybuck, and many nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and aunts. Linda was predeceased by daughter Colleen Marie (June 6, 1971), parents Peter and Katherine Warwaruk, brothers Paul and Lawrence, father-in-law John Rybuck, and brother-in-law Joe Karalash. Linda was born in Erickson, MB on September 21, 1940 and grew up on the family farm south of Erickson. She attended Westmount School until Grade 8 and then graduated from Erickson Collegiate. From an early age she wanted to be a nurse and went on to graduate from St. Boniface School of Practical Nursing in 1962 as a L.P.N. She worked as a nurse at St. Amant and St. Boniface Hospitals. She met Peter in 1965. Peter and Linda were the first couple to be married at the new St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church in Erickson, MB on Canada Day, July 1, 1967. When Linda and Peter started their family, they decided that she would stay home to raise the family as Peter continued to work as a teacher in the Winnipeg School Division #1. In 1979, Linda began a home daycare business which she continued to run for 34 years until her retirement in June 2011. Over the course of her career Auntie Linda lovingly cared for over 100 children, many of whom continued to stay in contact with Auntie Linda and Uncle Peter. For Linda, family always came first. Whether it was her immediate family, or her extended family. Linda always made time for everyone. Her door was always open and no one was ever turned away. It was a miracle how food magically appeared and no one ever left with an empty stomach. Linda loved her backyard, especially her swings, and could always be found napping on them. Linda loved to attend many of her grandchildren's activities such as soccer, baseball, hockey and many of their school productions. Over the years, Linda and Peter enjoyed travelling from coast to coast and abroad. They made numerous road trips to reunite with family and friends all over Canada and the U.S.A. Linda and Peter enjoyed Friday night dinners and card games with the gang . She also enjoyed attending services on Wednesdays and Sundays at Springs Church. Her Faith was an integral part of her life. The family would like to extend thanks to the Emergency Response Team from West St. Paul, and all friends and family for their love and support during this difficult time. It was Linda's wish to be cremated. Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Boulevard, Winnipeg. Light lunch will be served following the service. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Springs Inner-City at 648 Burrows Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2W 2A7. Linda's Daycare Prayer Thank you Jesus for my food. Thank you Auntie Linda. Thank you for my friends. Amen. Good Bye! Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca

I only met Linda a couple of times when I picked up my granddaughter, Hayley, but I was very impressed by the homey atmosphere. I was very aware how important "Auntie" Linda was to Hayley especially, but also to Rick and Susan. Peter, I appreciate your comments on Don's obituary and can now fully understand the impact left behind at such a sudden departure. One day at a time; my thoughts are with you in your time of grieving. - Posted by: Joyce Ward (friend) on: Apr 19, 2012

Our deepest condolences to Peter and the family! Auntie Linda will be truly missed and we still remember the days Sam would come home with her nails painted and hair in a million pony tails! We could always count on Linda to take care of Sam and remember the snow storms we had to drive thru from the city. By the time I got to the house after work, Sam had already been fed supper and happily playing. Our hearts are sad, but Heaven has gained a wonderful Angel! Love you Linda! - Posted by: Carol, Wally, Samantha & Stacy Sawchuk (Friends of "Auntie Linda and Uncle Peter"/client) on: Mar 19, 2012

Auntie Linda was more than just a babysitter, she was a member of the family. She was always there for us, no matter what the situation was. One such event was when my mom went into labour with my new baby brother. It was only her and I, since my dad and sister were away travelling, and she knew that she could rely on Auntie Linda and Uncle Peter to help look after me. This meant a phone call to her in the middle of the night to pick me up, and I know she wouldn't have wanted it any other way. She was a kind and wonderful person, and would always go out of her way to help those around her. My sincere condolences to her family. - Posted by: Aaron Cook () on: Mar 18, 2012

Dear Peter, Derek, Laura, Vernon & Sheldon, We are sad and heartbroken to hear of Auntie Linda's passing. Rachel and Aaron, in their formative years, were loved, cared for and nurtured while in Auntie Linda's capable hands. They never wanted to come home. No one cooked like Auntie Linda or made such fun crafts. Her home was always filled with laughter. May her soul be bound up in Eternal Peace. Cannot express the void she will be leaving to all of her family, extended especially. Linda was the cousin who laid it out straight, had a wicked sense of mischief and humour. Not to mention my favourite recipe of Easter noodle bake is Linda's. Your spirit will be missed. We are saying prayers of love & comfort for Peter and the kids. - Posted by: Greg, Susan, Sara & Kaitlin Deppendorf (cousins) on: Mar 16, 2012

Tears still flow from our eyes! We will miss you Auntie Linda. You (and Peter) both made such an impact on so many peoples lives. Yes - you were a God-Send! Linda and Peter both exemplify what being a good steward is all about - that is Reflecting Christ's "Love" back at you - in the giving of their lives so unselfishly! Auntie Linda's was a home where "Love" resided. Now Auntie Linda will share in God's Promise of Eternal Life. Through HIS Love there is no death. so Until we meet again Auntie Linda - goes our Love with you. xo - Posted by: Don, Cheri, Clayton, Tasha & Clayton Adam (Friend and Our "Auntie") on: Mar 15, 2012

As a kid I usually didn't want to go many of the places my parents took me. But I really did enjoy going to 'Mr. and Mrs. Rybuck's'. Those were good times. I really would have liked to have seen more of Linda and Peter as I've grown up. In a such a busy world, let's make time for the people who we've shared good memories with. To the Rybuck and extended family, my sympathies and thoughts are with you in this time of grief. - Posted by: Shawn Lanting () on: Mar 15, 2012

Linda was an amazing lady and gained my respect and admiration from the first time we met. Her love and dedication to her family and grandchildren will hold many good memories. Yes, she told it like it is, even if we didn't agree, we heard it. I would often ask her for advice because she was just that kind of person. Linda you will be dearly missed. Linda provided childcare for my son, Jamie for the first five years of his life. I cannot express how much I appreciated all that special care. A working mother agonizes over leaving her baby, especially at 3 months and knowing he was in Linda's hands made it much easier! Thank you Linda, you will be missed. - Posted by: Carol Vandal (Grateful friend/client) on: Mar 13, 2012
