Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAXINE THOMAS (nee GRANT) 1934 - 2012 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Maxine. After a long battle with cancer, she peacefully passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012. Maxine was born May 15, 1934, in Beaconia, Manitoba. She leaves to mourn her children; Sheldon, Mitchell, Lisa (Mike), Barb (Doug), Yvonne (Bernie), Kelly (Lindsay), Carla and Alfred. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey (1974), her son Delmar (2008), and her grandson Jordan (1991). She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her faithful canine companion, Socks. Special thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Care. Also a special thank you to the homecare workers that helped us keep our mother comfortable at home for as long as we could. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m., at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in her name to either the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or Riverview Health Centre Foundation (Palliative Care), 1 Morley Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 9Z9. Aunty Maxine, you are one person that made us think and be stronger, and you were courageous. I will always think about how you lived your life, it had so much meaning, we can all learn to be better, and I take from this and show my Children how one person's strength goes a long way to influence others. Your beautiful smile, your quiet little laugh, your positivity and most of all your Grammy hugs will be forever missed. I am so grateful to have had my sweet grammy in my life for 29 years and I am blessed that my little Chloe and Maddex fell head over heals in love with their great-grammy. All of your many grand kiddies will miss sitting at the kitchen table drinking tea and eating sweets and watching you do your cross word puzzles. You are now in a better place where no one is in pain. I hope you and my Dad are catching up and I am sure you will be watching Young and the Restless everyday. We love you forever and always Grammy.
