REYNOLD (ROY) PENNER December 16, 1934 - March 16, 2012 With sadness we announce the passing of Roy Penner, at the age of 77, after a lengthy battle with cancer at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach on March 16, 2012. Roy is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Penner (nee Rempel). He will also be greatly missed by his children Curt (Patty), Lyle (Constance), Jon (Barb), Wanda (Dennis) and Karen (Paul); his grandchildren Victoria (Greg), Allison, Matt, Jessica (Mike), Erin, Edie and Maddie; his great-grandchildren Ben and Jude. Roy is survived by his siblings Elda (Peter), Dave (Betty), Martha (Jim), Wilma, Peter (Anne), Ken (Phillis) as well as the extended Penner family, the extended Rempel family and many friends. Roy was predeceased by his son Travis, mother Aganetha, father John and by his brother-in-law Nick Sprietsma. Viewing will be held Tuesday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr. in Steinbach. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinbach Mennonite Church, 345 Loewen Blvd. in Steinbach. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of the Steinbach Community Cancer Program, South Eastman Palliative Care and the Bethesda Hospital for the care and compassion Roy received over the past three years.
