Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORY EDITH HEIDBUURT (nee ATKINS) 1932 - 2012 The family of Marjory Heidbuurt sadly acknowledges the passing of their mother and grandmother on March 16, 2012 at 79 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Arthur Heidbuurt. She is survived by her three children Ruth Skakum, Barbara Heidbuurt and Paul Heidbuurt, and grandchildren Megan, Eric, Jonathon and Julia. Marge was born in Winnipeg on July 25, 1932 to Dorothy and Stanley Atkins. She was the fourth born of six children, having four sisters and one brother. She was raised and continued to reside in Winnipeg throughout her life. She was trained as a Registered Nurse at Grace Hospital and worked there, at Deer Lodge, the Women's Pavilion in the nursery and also as a private duty nurse. She served as an officer in the Air Force. Later in life she worked as a real estate agent. She loved to sing, pray, read, study the bible, knit and sew. She was active in the church and the community and received an award from the City of Winnipeg for community service. She loved her family very much and enjoyed every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She always had a song in her heart and on her lips and a kind and encouraging word to say. She will be remembered and missed for her smile and cheerful spirit. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
