LENORE JUNE HEDGE (CUTHBERT) Lenore Hedge passed away peacefully March 15, 2012 at the Health Sciences Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Bruce (Kathy), Gary (Judy) and Gail. Namoo as her grandchildren lovingly called her will be very missed by Jessica, Cheryl, Lenore (Shawn) and Kerri (Glen). She also leaves behind her three great-grandchildren, Colton, Kai, and Emma. Lenore was predeceased by her loving husband, Ron in 2000. She was also predeceased by her parents, her sister Joyce and her brother Barry. Lenore was born and raised in Winnipeg. After high school, she attended Success Business College. Following graduation, she was employed by the Taxation Department, Canadian Automotive Supplies and the Winnipeg Public Library. Lenore met her future husband, Ron at Pala Camp in Minaki, Ontario. After a brief courtship, they were married in June 1950 and settled in the Riverview area of Winnipeg where their three children were born. As Ron was employed with the C.N.R., the family made several moves throughout the country. Because of Lenore's outgoing personality, friends were easily made and these friendships exist till this day. After returning to Winnipeg, Len and Ron fulfilled their lifelong dream of building their cottage at Minaki, Ontario. Many happy times were spent there with family and friends. Following Ron's retirement, Len and Ron moved to Zambia, Africa. While there, they took the opportunity to travel to other parts of Africa and Europe. When they returned to Canada they built their home in St. Francois Xavier. They were able to enjoy spending their retirement years vacationing in California and spending summers at their cottage. Lenore's interests were varied and she was well known in the curling and golf communities. After Ron passed away, Lenore spent several more years in their home before moving to Sturgeon Creek 2 where she made new friends. She was an enthusiastic participant in the activities while she lived there. According to Lenore's wishes there will be no formal funeral. Cremation has taken place and a family gathering will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name would be appreciated. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • "Lenny" as she asked to be called by friends and family alike, was a sweet soul and always very dear to me. I knew Lenny only through her son and my best friend, Bruce. She was ALWAYS a dear, kind, sweet soul to me. In my experience she was never without a smile. Her son Bruce... well I have lost contact with him, Kathy too. Search as I might I cannot seem to find Bruce, Kathy, Gary, Gail, Grant, Andy, Donna. If only... Should any of them read this, my email is dcreasey818@gmail.com - Posted by: David Creasey (Friend of the family, esp. Bruce and Kathy) on: Feb 17, 2019

  • We will always cherish the memories of Ron and Lenore and family. Family picnics at Selkirk Park, Assinboine Park, West Kildonan Park, ping pong tournaments at the Lyons, Keedians, and Spences. New Years dinners at West Kildonan Curling Club. Most recently spending time with Lenore talking about her youth with our parents and her freedom to travel on her electric chair, even at times exploring the St. James area without any fear of getting lost. Lenore was always a fountain of information in identifying old friends or locations. She was wonderful and a true freind to all who knew her. We will miss you, Sandy and Grace - Posted by: Sandy and Grace Spence (Very close friends.) on: Mar 24, 2012

  • A vibrant, caring, fun-loving friend...is how I think of your Mom. She and my aunt Evelyn had a special friendship and were like sisters, so we thought of Lenore as an aunt also. We enjoyed many family picnics which naturally included your Mom & Dad, ping pong tournaments and various celebrations and now the last of the "family" has passed to join the rest of the Lindsay clan and play a game of Gimmee - Posted by: Gary & Diane(Jopling) Keedian (Friend, but more like a relative.) on: Mar 24, 2012

  • We will all miss your dear mother and Namoo! My mom Ailsa (the old Heap) was friends with Len (and Ron) for many wonderful years, from Pala Camp, continuing with the Pala Bridge Club, petting puppies and picking pussy willows and crab apples at St. Francis Xavier, at Sturgeon Creek 2, and even lately with Len scootering to Oakview Place. What an amazing lady with a wonderful sense of humour! Whatever soothes your spirit, comforts your soul, and brings you all peace...that's what you are wished at this sad time. With heartfelt sympathy from all the Heap family, Jane and family, Sue and family, and Murray and family - Posted by: Jane (Heap) Romaniuk (Family friends) on: Mar 24, 2012
