CARL ALFRED BRUCK Carl Alfred Bruck passed away peacefully on March 22, 2012, at the age of 85 at the Deer Lodge Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Carl is survived by his wife Martha, son Manfred (April), daughter Judy (Rick), son Norbert (Heather), granddaughter Kristen, and grandsons Evan, Kyle and Jamie. Carl was born May 19, 1926, in Schwibitz, the district of Cesky Tesin, in the province of Silesia in Czechoslovakia to Karl and Anna Bruck. In 1945, Carl relocated to Walheim, West Germany where he met Martha who was to become his wife for over 60 years. They married in Bietigheim on September 2, 1950. Carl and Martha immigrated to Canada in April of 1951 and settled in Manitoba where Carl was employed by CAE Aircraft Ltd. and later by Bristol Aerospace Ltd. He worked in avionics and was especially proud of his involvement with the Black Brant rocket system. Carl eventually retired in July of 1990, which allowed him to devote more time to family. Among many interests, Carl was an accomplished chess player, playing online with friends all over the world and belonging to a club in Winnipeg. As a father he taught the usual life skills, maintenance of a vehicle and proper use of tools but also the intangibles, help those that can't help themselves, protect those that can't protect themselves, give your word and live up to it, leave people better for knowing you. We will miss the guidance, support and most of all the love you gave. Donation in lieu of flower CancerCare Manitoba, ON 1160 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9. A celebration of Carl's life will be held on Monday April 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I first met Carl in 1982 on my first visit to the Belgian Chess Club and played many chess games with him over the years. Carl was one of the nicest and kindest person you could ever meet and it was a pleasure knowing him. - Posted by: Michael K (Friend) on: Jan 20, 2013

  • Carl was a friend. I helped take care of him on 5 North.. He always made me laugh and always laughed at me being silly and goofy whenever I was helping him. I hope there is lots of herbal tea up there for ya Carl! Think about you often :) until next time..... - Posted by: Melanie (Friend) on: Jun 27, 2012
