NETTIE NIKKEL (nee FRIESEN) August 25, 1941 - March 23, 2012 On Friday, March 23, 2012, Nettie went home to be with her sister Sarah in heaven. After a short battle with cancer Nettie passed away in the loving arms of her daughter. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Harry Nikkel, her children and grandchildren, Danny (Janice) Nikkel, Janel, Danielle and Dylan; Kelly (Ian) McKenty, Kailey, Gabriel, Katrina, Lindsey and Taylor; Randy (Tannis) Nikkel, Brittany, Brad and Kristi, special friend Carly and numerous family and friends. Nettie's passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren, and being involved in their lives. You can only have one mother, Patient, kind and true; No other friend in all the world, Will be the same to you. When other friends forsake you, To mother you will return; For all her loving kindness She asks nothing in return; As we look upon her picture, Sweet memories we recall; Of a face so full of sunshine, And a smile for one and all. Sweet Jesus, take this message, To our Dear Mother up above, Tell her how we miss her, And give her all our love. A celebration of Nettie's life will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg on Thursday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. When I was growing up we spent a fair amount of time together as families - going camping & visiting & even traveling to BC together. Shayne & I met on Auntie Nettie & Uncle Harry's front porch 30 years ago this summer! Most of all though I will remember Auntie Nettie's beautiful smile & great laugh. Words seem so inadequate at this time however you have fond memories to treasure and help carry you through the days to come. She has left a lasting legacy because she was looking forward to a heavenly home and she has gone to be with her heavenly Father where she was longing to go.
