Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTE) GILMORE It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Bette) Gilmore, with her family by her side, on Monday, March 26, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 79. She was predeceased by her parents, Jock and Peg Walker. Mom is survived by her husband of 52 years, Oren, her sons David, Colin and Glenn (Leesa), grandchildren Lauren, Alex, Riley, Ben, Bailey, Cameron and Alyssa, and her best friend Helen Murdoch. Mom was born in, and grew up in, the St. James area. She worked at the C.P.R. Data Centre and the Royal Bank prior to becoming a stay at home mom to her three sons. Mom particularly enjoyed curling and golfing. She was a Past President of the Ladies section of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club a long-time member of Breezy Bend Community Club, where she golfed with the Niners . The family spent a great deal of time together at the golf course over the years. Also, mom always looked forward to the weekly gathering of her bridge club. She was an avid reader and a skilled knitter, creating many blankets and items of clothing for her grandchildren. She loved attending her sons' sporting events as they grew up and really enjoyed watching her grandchildren bowl, perform in school concerts and play hockey, baseball and soccer. Mom took a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of her children and their families over the years and will be deeply missed by them all. Mom and the entire family would like to thank Dr. D. Breckman and the staff at the Assiniboine Clinic for their care and assistance over the years. The family also wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, at 1:00 p.m. Bishop (ret.) Lee Luetkehoelter and Pastor Carol Janke presiding. Reception to follow. Interment of her ashes will take place at the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Lasting Tribute Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Grace General Hospital Foundation. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of funeral arrangements, 775-2220

During our Westwood years we had many laughs with Bette and her Mom while "hanging out" at rinks watching our boys play hockey. She was a warm friendly lady and although we hadn't seen her in recent times we have fond memories of her. Our condolences to all the Gilmore family. My condolences to the Gilmore family. What a great Mom...what a fun friendly lady. I remember how Bette cheered for the KW teams we played for and the party at the Gilmore house after we won the City Championship. The Gilmores and Nordmans have known each other since 1962,50 years. Bette and Oren were one of my parents' favorite neighbours on Ericsson Bay. We kids loved her too. Sorry to hear of Bette's passing. We would like to send our condolences to Oren, sons and families. Bette was indeed a great neighbor and friend. We knew her from our Bay, through golf and curling.
