I used to live with Rita and her husband in Otter Rapids Ontario. I don't know if I ever met Walter as I was only six or seven years old. Perhaps my father knew him. (Jack Mueller). At any rate I do have some memories. I send my condolences to the family. Jackie Mueller/ McCormick in Calgary Alberta - Posted by: Jackie Mueller/Mccormick (Family friend) on: Mar 18, 2013

Well, there's so much to say about a great guy like Walter, but unfortunately we can't be typing for an eternity. We'd like to send our deepest condolences to his daughter Bonnie and son Ron. Walter was always there for each and every one of us, whether it was to pick us up when we had engine troubles, when we needed a crying shoulder, or just to play a good game of crib. He was here for us kids the minute we came out of the hospital. He'll be remembered as more than a friend, but a grandpa, uncle, and a mentor. There are so many memories of him, ones we'll have to hold on to the rest of our lives. Walter can never be replaced, and he will forever hold a place in all our hearts. R.I.P. Walter, you will be forever loved and missed. - Posted by: The Yankech Family (Joe, Lois, Lisa, Julee, Nick, and Otilja) (Friend) on: Apr 08, 2012

I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Walter's passing, it was so wonderful to see him at my Dad's 80th birthday. My condolences to Bonnie and Ronald and the rest of his family. Not many people can make a kid think that they like spinach when in fact they are eating broccoli but Walter was unique and funny. - Posted by: Vivienne Lewco Preece (friend) on: Apr 04, 2012

Walter and his brothers and sister looked after me on the farm from time to time. I to remember his great sense of humor. He was a great tease. He even was part of the band of brothers who caused me to fall into a huge tub of bread dough which was rising in the kitchen in the sun on the floor. I was a toddler at the time. I can still remember him laughing at me. The boys would put me in precarious positions like on the roof of the house and it caused their mom great concern. I just loved Walter's laugh, fun and games. Thanks to all the Kletke family for their love and care of me and to help out my mom after my dad passed away. Accept Len and my condolences please and my sister Kathleen Morasch and Marvin Drewlo. - Posted by: Vivian Scramstad nee Ash, Drewlo (friend and I was cared for by his mother Emily, when my dad died and my mom worked.) on: Apr 03, 2012

Walter will be remembered for his humour and love of life, friends and family. He was a lifelong friend who we called Brother Joe, amongst the Lewco Boys. We met as adults as he hung out with my cousins Mike and Freddy. He hauled coal with my brother Paul when it was used to heat the homes in Winnipeg. They would take bags and carry them and dump the coal through the shoot in the houses in Winnipeg. One time I went with him to my Uncle Harry's with Walter and drank my uncle's whiskey with a bit of mix. We were drunk and could hardly walk, but still made it to the dance in the North End, where we partially sobered up and danced (well, I did most of the dancing since Walter had trouble standing). This was near the time when he had a house on Ruby Street and we called it the Boar's nest as there were all men and no women living there. After Walter and I met and married our wives and had children we would still visit when time permitted. When my son, Billy and his friend Joey had a flat tire and no spare, I went to pick them up near Inwood and we went to see Walter. He pulled out some food (garlic sausage, etc.) and we had a feast. This was near midnight and he still had the ability to host and feed us! His life was a true blessing for many in my family. We will miss him and his lifelong friendship. Love you Walter!!! - Posted by: William Lewco (friend) on: Apr 01, 2012
