DURWOOD GRAHAM REYNOLDS Peacefully and after a short illness, Mr. Durwood Graham Reynolds, aged 91, recently passed away at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Graham was predeceased by his Parents Sarah and William and also several aunts and uncles. Graham is survived by his wife Estelle (Rae), Son Graham and wife Mary of Oakville, Ontario, and three beloved grandchildren, Paige, Nicole, and Clayton, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Graham was born in Toronto, Ontario on May 8, 1920 but raised and educated in Winnipeg. He recently celebrated his 70th Wedding Anniversary with his wife Estelle (Rae) whom he married on March 17 (lucky St. Patrick's Day) 1942, after initially meeting on a blind date. They were blessed with the birth of their Son Graham in 1949. Graham served honourably in the R.C.A.F. from 1941 to 1945 and after discharge; he joined the engineering department of the Manitoba Power Commission where he was a technical draftsman. In 1946, he joined the then Trans-Canada Air Lines as a technician in the mechanical department. After transfer to Montreal Quebec in 1966 he rose quickly through the ranks of Air Canada and supervised Maintenance Publications where he continued to work until his early retirement in 1983. While in that post, Graham was frequently consulted and relied upon by engineering and technical personnel at the airline. Graham always had a thoughtful, logical, and inquiring mind, and had the depression not intervened during his youth, would have made a fine engineer. He had many and varied interests and was an active member of the Airline Rod and Gun Club. Following his early training as a draftsman, he was a fine artist and several of his early cartoons and sketches are lovingly maintained by his grandchildren. Graham had a happy retirement and enjoyed a variety of activities with Rae and family after returning to Winnipeg. He joined the Winnipeg Retirement Club and actively participated in bowling and golf until his mid-70s (routinely beating his Son on the short courses). He was an active member of the Charleswood Legion and the Air Canada Pionairs, and enjoyed foreign travels with Rae. They loved theatre and were subscribers to the Manitoba Theatre Centre as well as attending plays and musicals while on visits to Son and Family in Toronto. At Christmas time, Graham could always be relied upon to play the harmonica at neighbourhood celebrations at his Son's residence in Oakville. A memorial service in celebration of Graham's long life has been arranged at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 7. In lieu of flowers, the Family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
