LENA MUSHMANSKI June 25, 1921 - April 3, 2012 Peacefully on April 3, 2012, surrounded by her family, Lena Mushmanski, aged 90 years, passed away at Fred Douglas Lodge. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Irene (Adam), son Patrick (Susan), daughter-in-law Lorraine, grandchildren Janice (Mike), Laurie (Kevin), Cheryl (Andy), Joanna (Cory), Tracy (Chris), Kim (Rick), Scott (Vanessa S.), Jason (Vanessa L.); great-grandchildren, Zachrey, Sydney, Caleigh, David and numerous nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her husband Peter, sons John and Gary, sister Jessie and brothers Mike and Steve. Lena was born on June 25, 1921 in Shorncliffe, Manitoba. Lena spent her early years working on the family farm before moving to Winnipeg, where she worked for several years. Lena then returned to Shorncliffe and in 1942 she married her husband Peter and together they raised their four children on the family farm. In 1982, Peter, Lena and son Gary moved to Arborg. While in Arborg, Lena enjoyed gardening, walking, knitting and socializing at Chicken Chef. She also made time for the occasional weekend jaunt to the casino. Lena's strong will helped her endure the severest hardships of her life, the loss of her husband Peter and sons John and Gary. Lena resided in Arborg until December of 2008 when she took up residence at Fred Douglas Lodge. With her endearing personality and sense of humour, she made numerous friends who became her loving, extended family. At Fred Douglas, Lena quickly became known by all as Baba . We wish to thank all the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their care and compassion and for making her final years so enjoyable. A very special thanks to her granddaughter Joanna, for always being there and watching over her. Pallbearers will be Mike Russo, Cory Wabick, Scott Mushmanski, Jason Mushmanski, Christopher Yaremkiewich and Clinton Yaremkiewich. Funeral service was held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Phillips Roman Catholic Church, Arborg. Interment will follow at Shorncliffe Cemetery.
