DEANNA MARIE MALAK (nee CARTER) It is with profound sadness that we announce that our beloved Deanna passed away with family at her side, on March 20, 2012 at the Women's Hospital, at the age of 59 years. Deanna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 37 years, Larry; her son, Jason Malak (Michelle); and grandson Evan Malak. Deanna is also survived by her mother Cecile Carter; sister, Valerie Carter (Paul); brother Randy Carter; sisters-in-law Wenda Carter; and Anna Malak (Todd); brothers-in-law Rob Malak (Karen); and Brian Malak (Therese); as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Deanna was predeceased by her brother Murray Carter and father James Carter. Deanna began her life on February 2, 1953. Growing up in Winnipeg, she graduated from Brooklands Collegiate; then went on to complete Business Administration Studies at Red River College. Following school, Deanna worked at a number of government jobs, which include Canada Employment Immigration and the department of Fisheries and Oceans. In 1974 she married Larry. Upon the birth of their son, Deanna devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom. Over the years Deanna actively pursued numerous hobbies, including gardening, baking, cake decorating, card making, scrapbooking, sketching, needle point, knitting, and crocheting. In recent years Deanna was an active member of the JKA Winnipeg West Karate Association, where her perseverance and dedication to training earned her a purple belt. Aside from these activities, Deanna also looked forward to her annual trip to Wasagaming with her sister. Three years ago Deanna's life was greatly fulfilled with the birth of her grandson. Being the loving grandmother she was, she wished she could have lived longer to help protect and nurture her grandson as he grows up. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff of the Women's Hospital for the dedicated care Deanna received. Following cremation, a gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
