JACQUES MAURICE JONCAS Peacefully, on Monday April 2, 2012, Jacques passed away after a short battle with cancer. Jacques leaves behind, his loving wife of 47 years, Joan; his beloved daughter, Katherine (Robert) Blunderfield and his pride and joy granddaughters, Amber and Britney. Jacques was predeceased by his father Joachim, his mom Marguerite, sisters Raymonde, Jocelyne, and Jacqueline and daughter Tammy Lynn. Also left to cherish his memory are brothers Georges (Nicole), Pierre (Myrna), Gerard (Dorian) and Bernard; sisters Nicole (Bill) and Maureen, and brother-in-laws Ernie and James and sister-in-law Merle; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jacques was born in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec on November 5, 1938. Jacques was living in Montreal when he met and married his wife Joan on July 18, 1964, where they proceeded to have two daughters Tammy Lynn (1966) and Katherine (1968). From the years 1972-1977 they operated a family owned grocery store (Epicerie Joncas Depanneur). They moved to Winnipeg in 1977. Jacques was employed with the University of Manitoba for 25 years. He was happiest spending his time with his family and friends, but especially his two granddaughters, Amber and Britney. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his Life, will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, in Jacques name.
