The cookie lady. She was such a component of our whole Bomber game day experience. Whenever my dad or I told a story to others about the game, she was always included. People would always say how generous she was to bake treats for each game, and to share them with her fellow fans. And the treats were always perfect and delicious! Our condolences to her family... I have many fond memories of my cousin Mary growing up. Memories that included family gatherings, going to the Oarona theater with Mary, Bill and my sister Doris, sleepovers at Mary's family home. We had many great times and I'm very sad to see her go. love cousin Betty Cross (Leake). - Posted by: elizabeth(leake)cross(cousin) (cousin) on: Apr 13, 2012

My deepest condolences Bill. I know this is a great loss but perhaps knowing others share your grief will be of comfort to you. I remember our times together in Weston and at Calvin Young Peoples and know of all the work that Mary did at the Church. I always enjoyed running into her while in Winnipeg and she was always full of energy and we enjoyed reminiscing about times past. Take care Bill. - Posted by: Robert Hamilton (friend of the family) on: Apr 13, 2012

The Hume family were truly one of a kind. They were exceptional in their faith and kindness and were very well respected. I had Mary for a teacher at Calvin in my teens and will always remember her with love and admiration. Although I did not keep in touch, I thought so very often of them as I would pass by Alexander by Keewatin and look at the house they all had shared for SO MANY YEARS, and remember Mrs. Hume always making tea and having biscuits of some sort ready to treat us with. Mary, May God Bless You as you have made your JOURNEY HOME TO BE WITH YOUR MOM AND DAD. You taught me a great deal and I will be forever grateful that I knew you along with my family. Billy, you have suffered a great loss as you and Mary were inseparable for so many years. Wishing you well as you begin another chapter in your life. Take care and May God Bless You Now and Always. Met Mary 8 years ago when we bought our cabin next door to her & Bill in Sandy Hook. Many stories were shared of them growing up at the lake and all their travels. So glad we had the opportunity for a get together this past January as we had no idea how things were going to change with 2 of our dear Sandy Hook 12th Ave friends passing on. Mary, you will be missed. - Posted by: Darlene & Gary Scollnik (Sandy Hook 12th Avenue neighbour) on: Apr 13, 2012

Aunty Mary and the entire Hume family were very pivotal in my family's lives from before I was even born. She was a great God Mother and treated as if I were her own daughter. I was and still am extremely saddened by such an unexpected event but know that she is in a better place. - Posted by: Joyce Nortey (Goddaughter) on: Apr 13, 2012

I first met Mary when I started working at Eatons in winnipeg. We became friends real soon and I was honored to have her as a maid of honor at our wedding some 52 years ago. We since moved away, but have always kept in contact. We will miss her stories and her ready laughter. - Posted by: Eileen Faber (Long time friend.) on: Apr 12, 2012

Mary, Bill and I grew up in Weston and played together as children and were friends all through our school years. Ma Humes was like a second mother to me and I enjoyed many summer holidays with the family at the cottage in Sandy Hook. - Posted by: Bill Alexander (Friend) on: Apr 10, 2012

We first met Mary and her brother Bill in 1999 when we purchased our cottage next door to them in Sandy Hook. At the time I was a quilter and found out Mary also was a quilter. However, Mary finished her projects where I still have the same unfinished projects and no longer quilting. We were summer cottage friends. Over the years we grew closer but only spoke on the phone around Christmastime or early spring before they went on their spring trip. Jules is going to miss her delicious mincemeat tarts. It is going to be lonely at the cottage without Mary and Bill. - Posted by: Joyce & Julius Pachkowsky (Sandy Hook 12th Avenue Neighbour) on: Apr 09, 2012
