GABRIEL MIRANDA OROBIA On Friday, April 6, 2012, at Health Sciences Centre, Gabriel Miranda Orobia passed away at 69 years after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gabriel leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Agnes, his beloved daughter Maribel Abrenica (Bernard), his #1 apo Cerio, and Felipio his little pipo . Also, he leaves behind his favourite son Joseph (Jennifer), Lauren his mahal and little princess, and Milano his bunso ng Lolo who with just a smile makes Lolo's day. He loved, cared, cherished and was proud of his four grandchildren who he says kept him alive and strong. He was happily anticipating the birth of his fifth grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents Rafael and Antonia, sister Victoria, and brother-in-law Avelino Maligaya. Also left to cherish his memory are his sister Cornelia Maligaya (Avelino deceased), and family Catherine (Wayne), Wyan and Zuri, Apple (Jun Junn) and Eyzi, his sister Agapita Finlay (Howard) and family Stacy and Trina, his brother Rommel (Nica) and son Ralfjacin, and extended families the Orobia's, Duke's, Peralta's, Adviento's, and numerous friends and family from Canada, USA, and the Philippines. Gabriel was born on March 18, 1943 in Balas Talisay Batangas, Philippines. He obtained his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from National University in 1965. He immigrated to Canada in November 1969 to follow and marry the love of his life Agnes, whom he met in 1965 at his uncle Magno and future sister-in-law Pinky's wedding. Gabriel and Agnes got married in 1969 and had two children. He was last employed at Boeing until he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2003. The happy couple travelled, whenever they were able, to California, Las Vegas, Chicago, and across Canada. Their last trip to Europe was the one that Dad always talked about to family and friends. Crossword puzzles and gardening also brought Gabriel joy and peace. Lamay will be held Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2:45 p.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street. Msgr. Enrique Samson Jr. presiding. Interment and reception to follow at Glen Eden. The family would like to thank the staff of CancerCare Manitoba and Health Sciences Centre, especially the MICU/CCU staff for their excellent and compassionate care for Gabriel. We would also like to thank friends and family who have been supportive and loving during this difficult time.
