(FRANCES) ISABEL WOOD February 27, 1923 - April 9, 2012 Peacefully with her family by her side, Isabel went home to be with her Saviour. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Ken Wood in 2002. Our mother will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children Rick (Pat), Carol (Doug), Shirley (Walter), Ron (Brenda), Kathy (Dave). She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Isabel was born in Fredericton, NB, where she went on to become a teacher first, and then a nurse, before marrying Ken and raising their family. They lived in New Brunswick until 1960, before moving to Winnipeg with their four children, adding one more child the following year and their family was complete. They were very strong in their faith, being active members of East Kildonan Baptist Church for many years. They always trusted in God, that he would provide. We are very thankful for the example they were to their children, we are blessed to have grown up in a Christian home. Isabel enjoyed taking care of her family especially her grandchildren, and spent many days cooking great meals for them. Our favourite treats were cherry cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies, which she always made sure to have in the freezer. She always had a way of making each of her children and grandchildren feel very special. Thank you to Oakview Place Personal Care Home for the wonderful care our mother has received for the last six months. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. at East Kildonan Baptist Church, 700 Watt St. Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation 949-2000.
