MARY EILEEN MCLEOD It is with sadness that we announce the death of our dear sister and aunt. She passed away at Grace Hospital on April 11, 2012, just five days short of her 95th birthday. Eileen was born on the family farm at Balmoral, MB, the eldest of five children, to William and Elizabeth McLeod. She attended Balmoral Consolidated School and upon completion of Grade XII attended Winnipeg Normal School in 1935 - 1936. Later she earned her BA and B.Ed. degrees from the University of Manitoba. She taught first at Roskeen, a one-roomed school at Riding Mountain. From there she taught at Kelwood, West Kildonan, Manitou, and Norwood before joining the Winnipeg School Division in 1949. Her teaching career spanned 45 years. Never fond of long trips, she enjoyed day trips out of Winnipeg and gained an appreciation of the beauty and history of her province. Fiercely proud of her Scottish heritage she enjoyed her membership in the MacLeod Society of Manitoba. Predeceased by her parents William and Elizabeth (nee Rodway), three brothers Fl. Sgt. Norman (1944) and P.O. Allister (1943) and Neil (1991), and her brother-in-law Wilbert Henderson (2007). She is survived by her sister Vina Henderson of Morden, three nephews, Donald (Cheryl) Henderson, Norman Henderson and Darwin (Jamie) McLeod, and many cousins and friends. Funeral Service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall on Wednesday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. with interment in the Stonewall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, the Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice. MACKENZIE FUNERAL CHAPEL STONEWALL (204)467-2525 mackhome@mts.net
