DAVID MCLELLAND Peacefully, with family by his side, on April 11, 2012, David McLelland passed away at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. Dave was born in Johnstone, Scotland on November 11, 1940. He came to Canada in 1955 with his parents. He completed his education at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. On August 16, 1962, he started with MTS in Winnipeg. He worked two years there, three and a half years in Selkirk, and the remainder of his work career in Eriksdale. He was employed by MTS for 33 years without missing a day of work. He retired on November 11, 1995. Dave leaves his wife, Eileen, of 50 years; daughter, Mysie (Paul), sons, Keith (Cathy), Kevin (Heather); grandchildren, David, William, Amanda, Luke, Tabitha, Caileigh, Mackenzie, Rebecca, Amy; great-grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, and another one on the way; and brother, William. Dave was very active in the Eriksdale community. He gave 33 years of service to the Eriksdale Credit Union. Initially he served on the Credit Union Committee and secondly as a member of the Board of Directors. He was Reeve of Eriksdale for 13 years, beginning in 1993. Another volunteer position he held was on the IRHA Board. Dave also was a member of the Viking Lodge in Gimli. Dave had many interests. A source of pride was achieving his black belt in Karate and his brown belt in Judo. He enjoyed working around his home and had the ability to build and fix anything. From cutting wood, plumbing, siding the house and many other talents, too numerous to mention - a lot of work for one man! He was a jack of all trades ! Dave will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all his friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital Guild c/o Irene Sigurdson, Box 474, Eriksdale, MB R0C 0W0 or to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. The family would like to thank Dr. Arara and all of the wonderful staff at E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A Céilidh will be held at a future date. I was just going through Facebook, and came across an old friend of mine from ERIKSDALE, and when I looked at his sight I came across Dave's obituary. I hado idea. I enjoyed taking judo with him. With all his roles he still managed to take us to those Judo tournaments. Until we meet again, don't go putting any of the Angels in Judo holds. My sincerest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Steven Kallstrom (Student of Dave's in Judo ) on: Feb 07, 2019
