GENOWEFA (GENA) PIETRZAK Genowefa (Gena) Pietrzak, who was born in Poland on February 28, 1922, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 3:30 a.m. at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Left to forever cherish Gena's memory are her four children, daughters Barbara Pieczko (Kazmier); Mary Dubois (John); Judy Linscer; son Andrew Pietrzak (Cynthia); eight grand-children and 12 great-grandchildren. Gena loved gardening and needlepoint and was very active till the end. Arrangements were made for her to travel to Nelson, BC to celebrate her ninetieth birthday with her anticipation to return home to start her garden. Tragically the day of her departure she had a massive stroke and heart attack. On Wednesday, April 18, 2012, Gena's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gena's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Babcia, as all lovingly called her, will be sadly missed. If tears could build a stairway And memories build a lane; I'd walk right up to heaven And bring you home again. WIECZNY ODPOCZYNEK RACZ JEJ DAC PANIE

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Gena will always be known to me as Mrs. Pietrzak. I never knew a time when I wasn't welcome in the Pietrzak home. Even when I would show up unexpectedly. This is a woman who grew up in the toughest of times, during the Second World War in Poland. She survived the harsh realities of that time. She started a new life with her children in a strange land and overcame many obstacles. She was a survivor. That was apparent. Mrs. Pietrzak had a lovely Persian cat that I'm sure misses her. Her cat Misha, not the friendliest furball, but as you got to know the kitty, she was a lovely, sweet creature. These two kept each other company almost 20 years. Misha, I called her Mishka (mouse), will be travelling to a new land too with her new caring owners, Mrs. Pietrzak's daugher Mary and her husband John. I have fond memories of my childhood associated with Mrs. Pietrzak and her children. Thank you Mrs. Pietrzak. - Posted by: Diana Groves (Life long friend of the deceaed two girls Mary and Judy) on: Apr 21, 2012

  • We are very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. It won't be the same driving past her house and not seeing her beautiful garden and wondering where she got the energy to maintain it. Our thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Vicki and Michael Kostanski (Friends) on: Apr 21, 2012
