JACOB (JAKE) RICHARD KROEKER April 12, 1930 April 13, 2012 Peacefully, on April 13, 2012, with family by his side, Jake's battle with cancer ended. Jake is predeceased by his parents Abraham Kroeker, Agnetha (nee Konrad) and sister Evangeline Goertzen. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Julie (nee Koots), four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, his sister Martha Paul, in-laws Mike and Chistee Koots and numerous nieces and nephews. Jake grew up in Winnipeg, with his parents in a strong faith based Mennonite home. His father's dream of Jake becoming a minister was contrary to Jake's plan to be an independent free minded spirit. He met the love of his life, the beautiful Julie Koots from Hoek Van Holland while working together at Palm Dairies. To raise his family he worked at Canada Post for 30 years, driving taxi on the weekends for 10 of those years and acted as a self contractor building three of our family homes. Jake loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed weekends at Tarryall Resort in Ontario. His previous dogs Beau and Bruce accompanied him on daily walks at Harbour View Puppy Park and to Bethania Nursing Home to visit Julie. His puppies were gratefully rescued by Leo Reichard and Sharla Moore. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow. A donation in Jake's name may be made to Happy Tails Rescue, www.happytrailsrescue.ca. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • We never knew his first name here at the park. But we all called him Grandpa and loved to see him and chat. He will be missed on our walks around and see him off when going off at supper time faithfully to feed his wife. He will be missed. As for his 2 furry boys. Not sure where Bruce ended up but Beau has a great home now with Ray. He was a gift from Leo. - Posted by: friends from Kilcona dog park (friends) on: May 21, 2012
