LAWRENCE ALLAN ISFELD Peacefully, on Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Gimli Community Health Center, surrounded by his family, Allan Isfeld, aged 76 years, of Gimli, Manitoba, passed away after a courageous 12 year battle with cancer. Allan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, June; son Russell (Anne), grandsons, Travis and Jeremy; daughter Janice Dankochik (Byron Gabor), granddaughters, Ashley Robak (Jason) and Brittney Dankochik (Derrick Anderson) and great-grandson Lucas Anderson; daughter Alana Bruce (Greg), granddaughter, Kirsten and grandson Garrett; and son-in-law Perry Dankochik. He is also survived by his brother Robert Isfeld; sisters, Maria Frantz (Verne) and Audrey White; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by his parents, John and Fanney Isfeld; brother-in-law, Fred White and sister-in-law, Gudrun Isfeld. Allan was born on December 28, 1935, in Gimli where he was raised. After meeting June and marrying, they settled in Gimli on the property that Allan was born and raised on. He operated Allandale Fur Farm with his dad for 20 years, spent over 60 years as a commercial fisherman and spent three years in the construction industry in the interim when not fishing. He always had a story to tell about the many experiences of his life. He had a gift for remembering details about the people he encountered. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Gimli, Manitoba.
