WILLIAM JAMES THOMAS (TOM) KIRK William James Thomas (Tom) Kirk, 64, of Meadows, Manitoba passed away April 19, 2012 after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Kirk; his sister, Francis; and his brother-in-law, Harry E. Weymouth. Tom is survived by his loving sister, Maureen; his brother, Harvey; nieces and nephews; and a very special and close circle of friends. Born and raised in a rural community, Tom was a well-respected community member who loved farming and country living. A lifetime farmer, Tom took over the family farm and worked for many years with the Western Breeders association. Tom was a generous, kind-hearted man who loved animals and the outdoors. Tom's philanthropic interests reflected his passion and commitment to nature, and he gave generously to the Assiniboine Zoo, Fort Whyte Center, Oak Hammock Marsh, and Ducks Unlimited, places where he spent much of his free time. At his request, cremation has taken place and no funeral or memorial service will be held. Friends wishing to honour his memory may make donations to the Kidney Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special thanks to hospital staff from the Health Sciences Centre, Selkirk Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital who treated Tom with dignity and care during his illness.
