MARY ROSE MONKMAN (ADELE) September 13, 1918 - April 19, 2012 Peacefully on April 19, 2012 with family by her side, we announce the passing of our family matriarch Mary Rose Monkman at the Grace Hospital at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her parents Isadore and Margaret Loyer, her husband Frederick Monkman, son Garrie Monkman, daughters Alma Kehler, Lorna Hofner, Hilda Flett and Gladys Monkman, brothers Albert, Alexander, George, sisters Annie, Agnes, Josephine and grandson Raymond. She is survived by one remaining sister Louise Monkman, daughters Esther and Eileen, sons Leslie, Howard (Kathleen), Lester (Pam) and Freddy. Special granddaughters Charlene and Andrea whom she raised as her own, 47 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also many nieces, nephews and friends. Adele was married to Fred in her early teens, they lived and raised their large family in Vogar, MB where they were both employed as Janitors at the Vogar School. She loved going to church, playing cards, sewing, knitting, making rugs and bingo. Pallbearers will be Ferland Monkman, Arlen Monkman, Jeff Houle, Sheldon Monkman, Ryan Geisler and Carmen Malcolm and cross bearer Carey Hofner. A wake service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Kateri Roman Catholic Church 794 Ellice Ave, Winnipeg. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m., also at Kateri Roman Catholic Church. Officiated by Father Robert Bernardin. Interment to follow at the St. Francis Roman Catholic Cemetery in Vogar, MB. A lunch will take place at the First Nation Band Hall.
