SIMONE (MAME) BERGER It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Simone Mame Berger at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg on Friday, April 20, 2012. She was surrounded by family and love in both body and spirit. Simone was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba in 1922. She was predeceased by her parents, Cyrille Rozière and Marie-Perrine Lancelot, her husband, Albert Berger and all of her nine siblings. Left to mourn her passing are her five daughters Claudette (Gordon Laurie), Diane, Joanne (David Ellis), Michelle (Paul O'Neill) and Marie-Paule (Chuck Fiterman), nine very lucky grandchildren, 14 lucky great-grandchildren and three brand new great-great-granddaughters as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. To Mame , many were family, all children held a special place in her heart. Over her lifetime, Simone worked in the laboratory at St. Boniface Hospital, the Little Art Gallery and Mini-School Daycare. She possessed a generous, welcoming nature; there was always a pot of coffee on (with goodies) for those who stopped in for a visit - and many did! Simone was an accomplished but humble artist who continued to hone her skills. Her legacy to her large family includes a love of art, music and the French language and culture. Simone continued to live in her home. Simone était toujours indépendante et planifait son prochain tableau. Elle a retenu son sens de l'humour durant cette dernière semaine et a continué a nous faire rire 2 jours avant son décès. A la fin, elle était entouré de sa famille. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, especially Sally in the ICU and Doctors Lerner, Montgomery and Buschell. Friends and family are invited to share in a come and go gathering to celebrate Simone's life from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
