JOSEF SCHOENHOFER January 18, 1939 - April 24, 2012 Unexpectedly, in the early morning hours, our beloved Husband, Dad and Opa passed away. Joe leaves to mourn the loves of his life - his wife of almost 52 years, Berta; daughter Deborah and the apple' of his eye, granddaughter Stefanie. Joe also leaves: his sisters Elizabeth Lukas (Nick), Hedwig Neufeld; sisters-in-law Theresia, Alwine (Gustav), Lili (Nelson); brother-in-law Phillip and their respective families, and many friends, especially his bowling families and his coffee buddies. Joe was predeceased by his parents, a nephew, a sister, his brother and his mother and father-in-law. Joe worked at Otis Elevator and Exel Elevator. Joe enjoyed his retirement doing the things he loved: gardening, bowling, looking after home and yard, spending as much time as possible with Stefanie, taking time to talk with neighbours and visiting friends/family who were ill or in hospital. Joe loved people!! Joe will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Carpet Fund , Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 1Z5. • Our deepest condolences on the passing of Joe. Sorry we were not aware of his passing until now. He will be greatly missed by the two of us. Will remember the good times we had together. Anneliese and Ernst Hartiel - Posted by: Ernst and Anneliese Hartfiel (Long time friends) on: May 17, 2012

  • I will always fondly remember my younger days, bowling with Joe in the Thursday Night mixed league at the Village Inn, or the Sunday Morning Mens league at St. James Lanes. He was an exemplary man, with a kind spirit. Although my travels later in life have taken me far from those days, I would still hear from my dad that Joe asked about me from time to time, and I regret I never got a chance to chat with him one last time. My condolences to all his family and friends. - Posted by: Kevin Peden (fellow bowler) on: Apr 27, 2012

  • All the girls at the flowershop will miss Joe's cheery visits. He was a pleasure to work for and we always anticipated our "Werthers" treat when we finished his flower orders. May he Rest in peace. Gayle, Marion, Brooke, Cheryl, Chris and Sandi. - Posted by: McDiarmid Flowers (Joe's florists) on: Apr 26, 2012

  • My condolences on the passing of Joe. He will be sorely missed by many. I, for sure, will miss his smiling face, his happy personality, his generosity and his candies at the bowling lanes. On the few occasions I did not have a car at the bowling lanes, Joe would often drive me home even though it was out of his way.
