DOROTHY TREBLE (nee DOUGLAS) Peacefully on April 25, 2012, Dorothy passed away at the Grace Hospital just short of her 95th birthday. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Marlene French (Peter), Brenda Read and Linda Dixon (John); grandsons Robert French (Kerry), David French (Mary) and grand-daughter Jill (Rob Kowall), four great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, four nephews, four nieces and their families. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Jack and son-in-law John Read; and was the last of her generation outliving her sister Mildred (Harvey) Nickel, brother Herb (Anne) Douglas, sister-in-law Jean (Ed) Knight, brother-in-law Bruce (Elfarata) Treble and nephew Gill Weissbach. Dorothy was born in Oakburn, MB on May 20, 1917 and after her marriage farmed with her husband near Solsgirth. Dorothy successfully made the transition to city life following Jack's passing in 1968. In Winnipeg she took up golf, bowling and volunteer work including the Red Cross and the Grace Hospital. She was an active member in St. Andrew's A.C.W. for many years. Although Dorothy's sight deteriorated, eventually leading to blindness, she continued to enjoy life and participated in the activities at the Westhaven where she lived for six years. Thank you to the staff and management for helping her in this adjustment. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa, Station 3 for their kind and thoughtful care over the last 18 months and the staff at the Grace Hospital, 4th floor South for their attentive care during Dorothy's last days. A special thank you to her niece Beverley Potter who was Dorothy's care giver for several years due to her daughters all living some distance from Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, Birtle. Interment will follow in the Birtle Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined but donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to The Canadian Red Cross Society. Rae's Funeral Service of Shoal Lake, Manitoba in care of arrangements. (204) 759-2160
