DONALD A. MCFEE October 27, 1932 - April 29, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband and father. His parents, Arthur and Lottie McFee predeceased Don. He leaves behind his best friend and wife of 44 years, Carolyn, son Kirk of Calgary, AB, daughter Erin of White Rock, BC, and mother-in-law, Doreen Meyers, along with numerous cousins and friends. Don was born and lived in the West End of Winnipeg, attending both Isaac Brock and Daniel McIntyre Collegiates. He graduated from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1959. Upon graduation he moved to Toronto and worked at Confederation Life. He returned to Winnipeg to work at Monarch Lumber, leaving there to be Comptroller at Universal Printers. In 1970 he was appointed President of Universal and remained there until his retirement in 2001. Don was a big sports fan, holding season's tickets to the Bombers, Goldeyes, and 1972 to 1996 Jets. Of all the sports he followed, baseball was king. He had a great memory for statistics, and you would be hard-pressed to stump him on baseball trivia. Coaching community club hockey and little league baseball in Charleswood was a source of great enjoyment for him. He also thought he could golf, fish, and cross-country ski. A die-hard Winnipegger, Don was proud to have lived here, and would be the first to defend his city if it were maligned. He was a great supporter of community charities and organizations, one of his favourites being the Winnipeg Humane Society. Of his many interests and passions, none took precedence over his family. Carolyn was the love of his life, and his partner through some very challenging times. He was immensely proud of Kirk and Erin, for their academic and professional accomplishments, but more so for the individuals they became. Although a small clan, the McFee's were a mighty foursome. Dad was an amazing man, and we shall truly miss him. In Don's memory, we wish to encourage our friends and family to register as organ donors by visiting signupforlife.ca. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made either to the Canadian Liver Society, Canadian Alzheimer Society, or Winnipeg Humane Society. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Boulevard. Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • My sincerest condolences to Carolyn, Erin, Kirk and family, with deep sadness hearing of Don's passing. There are many memories I have of Don, especially his dry wit and humour during many neighbourly conversations we shared over a 10-yr period. We always had laughs and Don was a great storyteller keeping everyone suspended until the punch line, despite our continual ribbing him during his delivery....a very kind, considerate, reliable man, I believe God will make a special place for him, recognizing all his goodness throughout his life, as he is in His hands now. I surely miss those good past times with Carolyn and Don. Great friends, great neighbours. Courage! - Posted by: Robert Newman (Ottawa) (former next-door neighbour on Paradise Bay in Winnipeg) on: Aug 30, 2012

  • Don was one of the most likeable people one could have ever meet, but I think it was that twinkle in his eye that made him so endearing to everyone. He always showed such interest in what we had to say and responded with great stories and wisdom. He will be missed. RIP - Posted by: Frank Minaker (Relative) on: May 05, 2012
