Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH ANNE WILLIAMS On April 27, 2012, Elizabeth Anne (Jackson) Williams passed away peacefully. Elizabeth was born June 14, 1936, in Winnipeg to Mary Elizabeth Molly (Riddell) Jackson and Douglas Rae Jackson. Elizabeth attended Laura Secord and Gordon Bell Schools, with summers spent at the family cottage on Sunset Avenue at Victoria Beach. Elizabeth excelled in academics, winning an entrance scholarship to United College (The University of Winnipeg), and graduating with a B.A. in 1957. While at university, she worked summers as a clerk at the Winnipeg Free Press and then at the Great West Life Assurance Co. Upon graduation, she worked at Winnipeg Public Library on the bookmobile. In 1957, she married John Arthur Williams and over the next 12 years they had four children. A busy family life was enjoyed with trips to British Columbia and Caribbean cruises. She was also an avid volunteer, serving for many years on several committees at Westworth United Church, a school library and at her local community club. Elizabeth was a remarkable person; kind, patient, and generous, with a keen wit, sharp mind and a spirited love of humour. She enjoyed watching sports, especially English football and the Winnipeg Jets (both versions). She loved to discuss politics, history, and the news. She was also the family historian, full of stories from over six generations of family and the keeper of an extensive archive of photos and memorabilia. Known as Nana, she was a doting grandmother and incredibly proud of her children's and grandchildren's achievements. Elizabeth is survived by sons Michael (Michelle), Douglas (Rita), Richard (Colleen), and daughter Kathleen (Jody); grandchildren Emma, Thomas, Molly, Hannah and Gabrielle. Her husband John passed away in 2009. Instead of a formal memorial service, Elizabeth requested an open house to be held. Family and friends are invited to drop in for coffee, good food, and to laugh and share memories on Sunday, May 6 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at her home. If more details are needed, please phone 951-8923. In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth has requested donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
