LORNA POYSER Lorna Poyser, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at River East Personal Care Home. Lorna will be greatly missed by her sister Winifred de Groot, nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Hugh Poyser, John Poyser, her sister Ann Pallister, and niece Dianne Charbonneau (de Groot). Lorna was born in Merridale, MB, on February 19, 1921. As a 13 year old girl, she came to Winnipeg to work and continue her education. She completed her education and began a long career with MTS. She lived in her home in East Kildonan for 50 years. During that time, she made many life-long friends in the neighborhood. She will always be known as the lady with the wonderful Afghan hounds. She also was a prolific knitter. All of her friends and loved ones have a one-of-a-kind, personalized knitted handy-craft. She also loved to paint and many of us have a picture with a small Afghan hound in the corner to remember her by. Lorna was kind and generous to all that she touched in her lifetime. She led a full and rich life and will be fondly remembered and missed by all. Special thanks to the caring staff of River East Personal Care Home. Services will be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, or the charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

I just found out that Lorna had passed. I met Lorna at St Saviors Church when I was nine - she was my Sunday School Teacher. She instilled in me a love for dogs which I have to this day - I have three. I remember the many times as a child I would go to her house for tea and visit with the dogs - Mishka, Khayta were the first. I went to many dog shows and on hikes with her as well. What a wonderful person she was. - Posted by: Carol Kitchingman (nee Mortimore) (Neighbor) on: Mar 09, 2013

My first memory of Lorna is when she made a trip to England when I was a small boy. Her visit from the other side of the world made a big impact and lasting impression on my life. We didn't meet up often but have fond memories. Rest in Peace Lorna - Posted by: Sam & Anne Appleby (My mum,(Sam) was a 1st cousin to Lorna) on: May 08, 2012
