MARGARET VERNA BRYCE On Wednesday, May 2, 2012, Verna passed away peacefully at Beacon Hill Lodge, Winnipeg. Born in Inchkeith, SK, on June 4, 1921, Verna was the youngest child of Augustus Sawyer and Barbara Keith. Mom will be lovingly remembered by: her son Vern (Colleen Olafson); granddaughter Janelle (Ryan Gyba); and sister Grace Kangas, Parksville, B.C. Verna was predeceased by: her husband James (1988); granddaughter Leah-Anne (1985); her parents; and brothers Gordon and Earl. Mom's strong work ethic started at a young age, growing up and working on the family farm. After Mom and Dad were married and moved to Winnipeg, Verna worked at Dixon's Pharmacy, Ashdown's and George N. Jackson's. In every location she loved being around her customers. Verna lived at Villa Cabrini before her move to Beacon Hill in 2007. We want to give a special thanks to her homecare workers at Villa Cabrini, and to the entire staff at Beacon Hill Lodge. Nurse Bev was our first contact at Beacon Hill and gave us the reassurance that Mom was going to be okay there. The love and caring that Mom received on the seventh floor was second to none. Hugs to all of you. A memorial service honouring Verna's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Wi nnipeg. Light lunch to follow.
