It has been 3 years and I still often think of the great times we had together. Last time was dancing with the children and family after the passing of Cheeco. - Posted by: Lawrence Bortoluzzi (cousin) on: Jul 11, 2015

Thinking of you on Christmas and remembering the many Christmases we shared in the past. In particiular I remember the Christmases when we were children living on Leighton Avenue and you and I would get up in the middle of the night at the dawning of Christmas Day and check out our presents. A mini coke machine and child's bake oven come to mind. We even used that oven to make mini cakes to surprise the rest of the family when they got up in the morning. It seems to me we even had cake batter on the walls of the kitchen. - Posted by: Beverly Bortoluzzi (Sister) on: Dec 25, 2012

Down-to-earth, loving and warm, fair and friendly to all, amazingly smart, sweet and funny, remarkable family man. I miss him dearly and think of him and his legacy a lot. One of a kind in willing to accept me the way I am, to forgive, and to give me a chance to be part of the local legal community. Rest in peace, you are in our hearts forever. We shall eventually meet again. - Posted by: Michael Kalo (Friend/Former employee) on: Jun 26, 2012

Through Fred's daughter Melissa and my daughter Molly, Fred and I met on May 7th, 2011. We began dating and in September 2011, we decided to live together at his home on Henderson Hwy. We were together as a couple until his passing on May 11, 2012. Fred was a hard working, dedicated and funny guy. Very committed to his practice, he was loyal to his clients taking calls even after hours. He loved his two daughters dearly. It was very important to him that they were happy. There were many dinners out and karaoke nights at the house. I had the pleasure of being a part of the laughter and fun. At home, Fred enjoyed reading all the time, reclining on his couch and watching TV. He loved coming home. I will miss his humor, love, and tenacious personality. His generous nature while driven to perfection to mentor others and help them through difficult times through leadership. I will miss you sweetie every day for the rest of my life. - Posted by: Christine Seaver (Friend) on: May 30, 2012

I met Fred through Jackson Mugerwa in 2008 and he was always friendly and welcoming to me. Fred had a "tough" exterior but was a teddy bear on the inside, and you could tell that he cared for his family, friends, staff and clientele very much. I will miss him. - Posted by: Bonnie Gembey (Friend/Colleague) on: May 20, 2012

Few people have touched my life like Fred has. Fred was there for me when I was at my worst. Fred was an excellent lawyer and a wonderful friend. Truly a great man. I will look back at our relationship with a smile on my face for the rest of my life. - Posted by: Ilyan Vitali Iwanchuk (friend, co-worker, mentor) on: May 19, 2012

We were saddened and shocked to hear of Fred's passing. We had been his clients for almost 5 years and there was never a time we stopped by to see him and did not share a laugh even though we went through a difficult business transaction. Somehow when you walked out of Fred's office everything seemed alright. Our deepest condolences go out to the family. - Posted by: Ken and Jeanie Webb (Clients) on: May 18, 2012

So very sad. Fred helped me a few years ago with my Mother's estate. I'll never forget his sense of humour and how he appreciated information on any subject. He liked to be personally "in the know". Whether it was geneology or just who sold or made the best perogies. And, of course, Timmies. He was more than a lawyer....! My sincere Condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Bonnie Carlson (Client) on: May 18, 2012

I was so sad to hear of Fred's passing. I worked for Fred for many years, and considered him not only a boss, but a friend. I have very fond memories of Fred from the years that we worked together. He was a good man, with a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed. My sincere condolence goes out to his family. - Posted by: Nancy Smith (friend/former staff) on: May 17, 2012

Fred and I grew up together and grew particularly close during our teenage years. We frequented Grand Beach during those years and were known as the Scambatti brothers. We formed a very close bond that continued for the rest of our lives even though we lived far apart and in later life saw each other infrequently. I will truly miss my partner in crime/joy and the embarassing look on his face I managed to paint when I reminded him of the nasty things he/we did in our teenage years. - Posted by: Lawrence Bortoluzzi (kissin cousin) on: May 17, 2012

Fred was a very good friend, and would always extend a helping hand when needed. We will miss him. It's difficult to believe he's gone. Too soon. - Posted by: Marilyn & Andy Bunn (friend) on: May 17, 2012

Words cannot express how saddened I was to hear of Fred’s passing. Over the years, he has taught me so much. Any questions I had, I would ask Fred. If he wasn’t around, his staff would know the answer. Just thinking of his sense of humour, I smile. As a legal assistant you don’t really get to know lawyers too much and form a friendship, but Fred, was different. I considered him a friend who lit up any room he was in, someone who knew me for me and liked me anyway. I could be myself in conversations and am glad to say he even asked me a few questions so hopefully I taught him a thing or two. I will miss you dearly buddy! - Posted by: Tiara Champagne (friend/former staff) on: May 16, 2012

I had the opportunity to meet Fred through his companion Christine. He was a very nice man with a good sense of humor. My deepest condolences go out to his family and Christine. - Posted by: Valerie Kipling () on: May 16, 2012

Fred was a great friend. He treated all his cousins as brothers. As early as the teen days he would hang out with his cousins on week-end nights, impressing the girls with his cougar convertible. Once when Cheeco took all the cousins boating, Fred (at age 13) was the first volunteer to water-ski. After drinking half the Red River, he gave up, never too be seen on boards again. I recall (in the early sixties) being invited By Fred to spend a teen-age winter weekend at Willie Jotts'cabin in the Whiteshell. Just he and 3 of his cousins. Fred was always there to help any of his cousins in need of advice or legal help. Always with the suttle humour, and proper direction. We have many fond memories. He will be missed by all. - Posted by: Brian Bortoluzzi (Cousin) on: May 16, 2012

We have known Fred since the late 80s. I was lucky enough to have visited him a few times in the hospital and yet he still wanted to know how things were going with us. A lot of times when I was coming home from the USA I would phone him and ask “Hey. It’s me, what would you like?" Fred was truly a great guy and we were privileged to have known him. Fred always made time for you in his office even if you just stopped by for a visit. He will be missed. - Posted by: JOHN AND ANGELA VANDENBERG (FRIEND / CLIENT) on: May 15, 2012
